Key Features

POND is a leading modelling service for land-based/onshore aquaculture.

POND Drivers

POND simulates the effect changes in drivers such as temperature, dissolved oxygen have on production, water quality and profitability. POND estimates the productive and environmental carrying capacity based on the model drivers. The analysis available accounts for the aquaculture growing characteristics and environmental water quality factors.

POND Inputs
  • Model for shrimp, finfish and bivalves;
  • Adjust feed on demand or feed as a percentage of stock;
  • Change culture periods;
  • Adjust feed cost, seed cost, sale price per kg and energy cost;
  • Simulate aerator effects on production;
  • Determine water renewal in ponds.

POND Outputs

The model outputs provides a pond-by-pond breakdown of the animal growth and biomass, dissolved oxygen levels, water and sediment quality indicators. Users can also view the aggregate profitability of each pond simulated, including metrics such as total revenue, feed, seed and energy costs.

POND Outputs
  • Individual animal growth throughout culture cycle;
  • Evolution of animal biomass;
  • Chlorophyll levels, dissolved oxygen, DIN and sediment ammonium;
  • Total revenue, total cost, profitability per pond;
  • Water quality effects of pond water and effluent;
  • Sediment quality.

POND Mass Balance

The mass balance provides users with an aggregated view of the processes in the pond from feed application, aquaculture production (biomass) and water quality effects. These vary according to the inputs provided, providing to stress test current and hypothetical culture setups. POND allows farms to answer culture questions without the need to commit any productive resources, such as, how much more would my shrimp grow more if I increase the supply of feed to the growout ponds?

POND Mass Balance
  • Feed application and food eaten;
  • Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR);
  • Shrimp production;
  • Faeces, wasted food and organic deposits;
  • Nitrogen potential and algal growth.
